What's On: The Weekend Before Christmas

Get festive in Brighton this weekend

Christmas is just days away, but there is still time to get into the festive spirit if you’re feeling out of sorts! Check out these events that are still taking place:

    Ice Skating

What could be more Christmassy than gliding around on the ice outside the beautifully lit Pavilion? If you haven’t had a go yet, don’t worry! The rink will stay in place until the 20th of January, giving you plenty of time to dust off the skates. If this isn’t festive enough, the adjoining café is being run by the Jamie Oliver restaurant and is selling deliciously warming winter treats.

    Opening times: 10am-10.15pm
    Price: Adults £13, Children under 12 £8.50, Off-peak: £7

    Christmas Market

The German Style Christmas Market outside Churchill Square shopping centre is bigger than it has ever been. Wander through the festive stalls selling everything from quirky jewellery to mulled wine, German bratwurst and crepes. The market is up until the 29th December, giving you plenty of time to snap up some last minute gifts.

Burning of the Clock – 21st December

Head down to the seafront tomorrow evening to see the annual parade for the Burning of the Clock to wave goodbye to the dark evenings and welcome in the lighter ones. Participants make their own willow lanterns to carry through the city before burning them all on the beach to mark the solstice. There will also be a fascinating fire show and a firework display for you to enjoy.

    Where? Madeira Drive 6.30pm

The Rocky Horror Show: 20th December – 5th January

For something a little different, why not go and see the groundbreaking Rocky Horror Show at the Theatre Royal? The night is bound to be fun and frivolous and, if you’re feeling particularly confident, you can dress up like the cast members in stockings and suspenders!
